The greyhound’s gift as the second-fastest land-based sprinter can be seen at the track. Racing kennels with 50-70 dogs are home for these canine athletes, which usually race on a 5/16 mile track and can cover that distance in 30 seconds. For the dogs to perform well at each track, human assistance is provided by trainers, lead-outs and the track vets, among others. These are some of their stories.
